The online petition http://ow.ly/zRYZQ has been updated, now that the MassDOT has committed to investing in the new rail upgrade, so the focus is now on Connecticut as well as on engaging and educating our communities in Massachusetts. The petition calls on legislators to support a joint planning study that will create a shared vision and plan for bringing back the trains – not as a nostalgic gesture but as a commitment to the citizens of the 21st century. Every signature triggers an email to 16 Connecticut lawmakers as well as the governor and the commissioner of transportation.
We want to get our total signatures over 5,000 – we’re at nearly 4,000 so this is not a herculean task. PLEASE SEND THIS LINK TO YOUR PERSONAL CONTACTS TODAY: http://www.change.org/petitions/bring-back-the-trains-restore-passenger-service-between-grand-central-and-the-berkshires. Each one triggers an email to those crucial Connecticut legislators (and will signal support to our MA legislators, too).
I support this from Falls Village, CT
An idea whose time came years ago but we’re still waiting
I urge you to back a planning study to bring back the trains to the Mass.-Conn. corridor. It will give a needed stimulus to the local economy and promote an efflorescence of the arts, which in turn will help secure the region’s economic and aesthetic attractiveness long into this new century.
Extend train service to north Massachusetts it’s the right thing to do!!
This train extension would be wonderful for the people and the local economy.
