We need to have more public transportation in this area & passenger service will boost the local economy tremendously. Passenger service will make it easier for commuters, visitors, and reduce the amount of cars on the road. I am all for more freight service as well.

Our roads are not built to handle the amount of big trucks that are using them all the time. We need more trains!

When you travel abroad, you can’t help but notice the extensive train service. We used to have that here! I have a 92 year old friend who remembers (with great fondness) walking from her Great Barrington home to the train station to go to NYC for the day.

I know many Berkshire County residents who would support bringing this back. The potential for NYC residents to do the same will serve local businesses and perhaps create new businesses too, which means more jobs. It’s a win/win for everyone!

I travel between NYC and Richmond s almost every weekend.
This would change my life!!!!

It will help people get to the Berkshires who can’t or don’t want to drive the distance. It will help all our industries thrive with a larger population of visitors. It will be an asset to those living full-time in the Berkshires to travel without using their cars.
Public transportation is a better and more responsible way to travel.

I think the economic health of the Berkshires is important to the state. The area brings in people from other states and countries to the area for extended periods of time to the benefit of both the visitors and the state. The cultural offerings in the Berkshires are a plus to the entire East Coast and beyond!

Everything about this initiative makes sense, above all to get people out of their cars and into public transport. It will be a huge boon to tourism in the Berkshires and can even stimulate more day trips for those who cannot get space in the inevitably limited hotels, motels and B & Bs during the summer season.

In this country we desperately need good rail service, and a line to NYC would be a godsend. Also, it would bring New Yorkers dedicated to making a better life for their children, which would help schools and communities. As for preserving the rural character, that is of little use if there are not functional neighborhoods, good schools, and a sense of dedication to the community.

I commuted between Williamstown to Albany for 20 years and couldn’t take it anymore.
A train would have been a godsend, and I would probably still be working there if there was one.
