We need to have more public transportation in this area & passenger service will boost the local economy tremendously. Passenger service will make it easier for commuters, visitors, and reduce the amount of cars on the road. I am all for more freight service as well.<\/p>\n
Our roads are not built to handle the amount of big trucks that are using them all the time. We need more trains!<\/div><\/div><\/div>

When you travel abroad, you can’t help but notice the extensive train service. We used to have that here! I have a 92 year old friend who remembers (with great fondness) walking from her Great Barrington home to the train station to go to NYC for the day.<\/p>\n
I know many Berkshire County residents who would support bringing this back. The potential for NYC residents to do the same will serve local businesses and perhaps create new businesses too, which means more jobs. It’s a win\/win for everyone!<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Everything about this initiative makes sense, above all to get people out of their cars and into public transport. It will be a huge boon to tourism in the Berkshires and can even stimulate more day trips for those who cannot get space in the inevitably limited hotels, motels and B & Bs during the summer season.<\/div><\/div><\/div>

In this country we desperately need good rail service, and a line to NYC would be a godsend. Also, it would bring New Yorkers dedicated to making a better life for their children, which would help schools and communities. As for preserving the rural character, that is of little use if there are not functional neighborhoods, good schools, and a sense of dedication to the community.<\/div><\/div><\/div>
